Baguio city, the summer capital of the Philippines is the target for evangelism of the Mountain Provinces Mission (MPM) beginning year 2018 and the next few years. It is in Baguio where MPM, the Seventh-day Adventist headquarters in the Cordillera region stands.
Churches within the city have organized care groups making it the primary vehicle for soul winning. This 2018, in participation for the Philippines for Christ evangelism explosion, Baguio care groups hosted the “The Search Team” a group of missionaries spearheaded by Elder Dan Smith, Senior Pastor of the Garden Grove Seventh- day Adventist church in California, USA. Twelve groups composed of more than 60 American missionaries arrived on July 26, 2018. They worked in 12 sites in Baguio City and adjacent towns for evangelistic reaping campaigns.
The activities during the week included the conduct of medical outreach programs in five different barangays serving 1,181 patients; painting a church, helping in the construction of three mission church projects, and leading bible schools for children at night time.
The gospel presentations that lasted for seven nights culminated at Baguio Central Church on August 4, 2018, where more than a thousand Adventists gathered to celebrate the Sabbath and the victory God has given the church as the result of the evangelistic efforts.
The biggest surprise that God has done to His church in the city of Baguio is the baptism of 243 new believers on that Sabbath day. In the history of Adventism in Baguio, this is so far the largest Adventist baptism done. The Holy Spirit worked in the church, uniting members to participate in the care group ministry and touching the lives of those who heard the truth so they would give their hearts to Jesus.
Seventh-day Adventist beliefs are meant to permeate your whole life. Growing out of scriptures that paint a compelling portrait of God, you are invited to explore, experience and know the One who desires to make us whole.
